First Local GOAT Hike of the Year: Waterfall Canyon

January 2026

Our first local GOAT hike of the year kicked off on Saturday, January 10th with blue skies, sunshine, and an incredible group on the trail at Waterfall Canyon in Ogden.

After a stretch of cold, windy days, the weather showed up in the best way. The sun made the climb feel lighter, the trail was in great shape, and the canyon views reminded us why winter hiking on a clear day can be so rewarding. From the start, the energy was high. Conversations flowed easily, new faces were welcomed in, and familiar ones felt right at home.

Waterfall Canyon delivered as always. The steady incline kept everyone warm, the views opened up as we climbed, and the shared experience of moving together made the hike feel less about the miles and more about the people. It was one of those days where everything clicked. Good weather, good trail conditions, and a group that made the morning feel easy and fun.

After the hike, we kept the momentum going with a classic trailgate in the parking lot. Jimmy John’s sandwiches, donuts, laughter, and lingering conversations made for the perfect post hike hang. It was casual, unplanned in the best way, and a reminder that some of the best moments happen after the hike is technically over.

This hike set the tone for the year ahead. Local adventures, strong community, and creating space to connect both on and off the trail. If this day was any indication, 2026 is going to be a really good year out there.
