There is something special about a trail that invites you to slow down and stay awhile, and our Hiking Happy Hour at Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir did exactly that.
We met at the trailhead in that golden window between work and evening, when everyone is still carrying the weight of their day but ready to set it down. The climb up gave us just enough effort to feel earned, and when the reservoir came into view, it felt like a collective exhale. We hiked up to the best vantage point to see both the reservoir and the city behind us – amazing! Conversations flowed easily, the kind that happen when phones are away and presence takes over.
But the night did not end at the trailhead. We headed to Localz Bistro, where hiking clothes, tired legs, and glowing faces gathered around the table. Over dinner, strangers became friends, hikes were planned, and stories were shared that had nothing and everything to do with the trail.
This is what Hiking Happy Hour is all about. Moving your body, yes. But also making space in your life for connection, for community, and for those simple weekday moments that end up meaning the most.
