Talking International Women’s Day and Adventure on FOX 13’s The Place

March 2026

Last week I had the opportunity to appear on The Place on Fox 13 News Utah to talk about something that’s incredibly important to me: why women-only adventure spaces matter and how GOAT is helping more women get outside.

It was a surreal moment. Most days I’m on a trail somewhere around Salt Lake City with a group of women who simply wanted a reason to get outside after work, meet new people, and try something new. Suddenly, that same mission was being shared on live television.

And it felt like the perfect place to talk about it.

You can rewatch the segment here.

Why International Women’s Day Matters for Adventure

International Women’s Day is about celebrating progress, but it’s also about recognizing where there’s still work to do. Outdoor recreation is one of those spaces where women still face quiet barriers. Sometimes it’s safety concerns. Sometimes it’s confidence. And sometimes it’s simply not having someone to go with.

That’s one of the biggest reasons I started GOAT.

So many women told me the same thing:
“I want to hike more… I just don’t have anyone to go with.”

GOAT exists to solve that problem.

The “Lead the Trail” International Women’s Day Hikes

One of the things I was especially excited to share during the segment was our International Women’s Day “Lead the Trail” hikes.

The idea behind these hikes was simple: celebrate women by getting outside together.

Across the weekend, women would gather on trails around Salt Lake City to hike, connect, and spend time outdoors with other women who believe in the same thing we do. That adventure is better when it’s shared.

Taking the Mission Beyond the Trail

Being able to talk about GOAT on television felt like a huge milestone, not just for the community we’ve built, but for the bigger idea behind it.

Women deserve spaces where they feel comfortable trying new things. They deserve opportunities to explore, challenge themselves, and connect with others who are looking for the same sense of adventure.

If even one person watching that segment thought, “Maybe I could do that too,” then it was worth it.

What’s Next for GOAT

The momentum around International Women’s Day reminds me just how many women are looking for community in the outdoors.

And we’re just getting started.

GOAT will keep hosting hikes, events, and adventures designed to bring women together and make the outdoors feel more accessible and welcoming for everyone.

Because the truth is, you don’t need to be the strongest, fastest, or most experienced person on the trail.

You just need to show up.

And there will always be a group of women ready to hike beside you.
