There’s something about mixing fresh mountain air, good company, and a little holiday spirit that just works…and our St. Patrick’s Day Hiking Happy Hour delivered all of it and then some.
We kicked things off at Vista Ridge Trail, where early spring in Utah gave us the perfect blend of crisp air and golden sunlight. The trail greeted us with sweeping views of Utah Valley, still dusted with hints of winter but warming up just enough to remind us that longer days and hiking season are officially here.
From the first few steps, the vibe was exactly what Hiking Happy Hour is all about—easygoing, social, and just the right amount of adventure. Some hikers came decked out in festive green, others just brought the energy, but everyone showed up ready to connect. Conversations flowed as naturally as the trail itself, weaving between stories of past hikes, upcoming plans, and that shared appreciation for being outside.
As we climbed, the views only got better. Vista Ridge has a way of rewarding you without asking too much, making it the perfect setting for a group like ours. Whether you were there to push your pace or just enjoy the scenery, there was space for everyone to experience it their own way.
And of course, no Hiking Happy Hour is complete without the “happy hour” part.
After wrapping up the hike, we headed over to Bout Time Pub & Grub to keep the celebration going. The shift from trail to table felt seamless—boots swapped for barstools, trail snacks upgraded to burgers and fries, and water bottles replaced with well-earned drinks.
Laughter carried through the group as we recapped the hike, shared photos, and toasted to new friendships. It’s always a little magic how a couple hours on the trail can turn a group of individuals into a community.
St. Patrick’s Day felt like the perfect excuse to gather, but the real highlight wasn’t the holiday, it was the people, the views, and that simple reminder of how good it feels to get outside together.
If this hike was any indication, we’ve got a pretty incredible season ahead.
