Last night, a crew of GOATs laced up and climbed Avenues Twin Peaks to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We came for the trail, stayed for the golden hour, and wrapped it all up with dinner at Red Rock Brewery.
Avenues Twin Peaks is one of those trails that proves you don’t need a long drive to find a real adventure. Starting right from the Avenues foothills, we wound our way up through the scrub oak, chatting, laughing, and catching our breath on the steeper pitches together.
Then the sky put on a show. As the sun dropped toward the Great Salt Lake, the whole valley lit up in gold. The light poured over downtown, the ridgelines glowed, and every face in the group turned warm and bright.
We stopped, we soaked it in, and yes, we took approximately one thousand photos. Some moments are worth slowing down for, and this was one of them. Epic doesn’t quite cover it.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this hike was our way of showing up for every woman touched by it. That includes survivors, women in treatment right now, the ones we’ve lost, and the friends, daughters, sisters, and moms who walk beside them.
GOAT was built on the idea that women are stronger together. Moving our bodies outside, side by side, felt like the right way to honor that. If this month is a reminder of anything, let it be this: schedule the screening, check in on your people, and keep showing up for each other.
What goes up must come down, and what comes down must eat. We made our way back down to the trailhead and headed straight to Red Rock Brewery for the “happy hour” half of Hiking Happy Hour.
Over good food and cold drinks, the trail conversations kept rolling. It’s the part of the night that turns a hike into a community.
Thank you to every woman who joined us last night. You made it unforgettable.
Missed this one? There are more adventures coming, and they fill fast!
