Everyone has a first hike. A first time lacing up and stepping onto a trail not knowing exactly what to expect, just trusting that it’ll be worth it. For the newest members of our crew, May 7th was that day. And we couldn’t be more proud of every single one of them.
The Trail: Bell Canyon Lower Reservoir
Bell Canyon Lower Reservoir is one of those trails that feels like a perfect introduction to what hiking is all about. The path is approachable but rewarding. You earn the views without feeling like the trail is trying to break you. And that payoff at the reservoir? Crystal clear water framed by canyon walls. A proper “wait, I actually did that” moment.
For new hikers, this trail has everything you want: manageable terrain, stunning scenery that builds as you go, and just enough of a challenge to make finishing feel genuinely satisfying. No one sat this one out, and that’s the whole point.
Celebrating at Localz Bistro
After a hike like that, you celebrate — and Localz Bistro in was the perfect spot to do it. Good food, good company, and the quiet satisfaction of a group of people who came as strangers to the trail and left as hikers. That transition deserves a proper meal.
There’s something about sharing a table after sharing a trail. The conversation flows easily. The food tastes better. Everyone’s a little tired and a lot proud.
To our new hikers
You showed up. You hit the trail. You made it to that reservoir and back. That’s not nothing — that’s everything. Welcome to Basecamp. We can’t wait to see where you go from here.
Thinking about joining us for the next one? The trail is waiting. 🥾💙
