Every journey has a starting point and for so many in our community, that beginning is Basecamp.
In early April, we hosted our first-ever Basecamp Hiking Happy Hour, designed specifically for women who are brand new to GOAT. Whether it was their first event, their first time coming solo, or even their first hike in a while, this night was all about creating a welcoming, low-pressure place to start.
We met at Neff’s Canyon with that familiar mix of excitement and nerves. You could feel it at the trailhead. But within minutes of hitting the trail, something shifted. Conversations started flowing, small groups formed, and the energy turned from uncertain to completely at ease.
That’s the magic of Girls Only Adventure Trips.
It’s not about pace or experience. It’s about showing up exactly as you are and realizing you’re not alone. Whether someone was brand new to hiking or just new to GOAT, everyone was met with encouragement, openness, and a shared willingness to try something new.
Neff’s Canyon gave us the perfect backdrop. A little bit of a challenge, plenty of time to connect, and just enough distance to go from strangers to familiar faces by the time we made our way back down.
And then came the “happy hour.”
Post-hike, we headed over to Facil Taqueria where the conversations kept going. Tacos, margaritas, and that post-hike glow created the kind of atmosphere where connections deepen fast. It’s always incredible to watch people who just met on the trail now laughing like they’ve known each other for years.
What made this Basecamp so special was the courage in the group. Every single person chose to show up, even if it felt a little outside their comfort zone. And that’s exactly what Basecamp is all about. It’s your starting line. No expectations, no pressure, just a community ready to welcome you in.
To everyone who joined us for their first GOAT event, we’re so glad you came. You made this night what it was.
